Main research themes of Our Lab.

Our laboratory is taking engineering approaches to address production and postharvest issues related to agriculture, livestock, and aquaculture. Our researches focus on grading, processing, storage, shipping of products as well as on harvesting. Electromagnetic wave technologies, especially advanced terahertz technologies are utilized to contribute to food safety, security and to enhance product quality. While our research fields cover a broad range of production systems including many types of agricultural facilities, greenhouses, plant factories, and even plant based life support systems for space exploration, Measurements and analyses of physical, chemical, and physiological properties of products are conducted at a fundamental level. Automation and robotization within controlled environment are also in our activities. Furthermore, researches on information technologies such as food traceability and on precision agriculture based on automated and robotic systems with sensors are also propelled.
